Linux Distribution Packagers: Originally I'd hoped that these fonts would all be organized such that you could grab them all and package them up and post them on your repository. I underestimated the complexity of licensing. As it stands right now, I would be hesitant to touch ANY of these fonts to package along with a distribution. I believe that the bottom line seems to be that most font authors want to be asked for permission. I made a cursory attempt to contact about 100 font authors, asking them about having their fonts being included with a Linux distribution, and 95% ignored me or never saw my email, and the other 5% responded that they did not want to be included; I got the strong impression that they had no idea what I was talking about. Even so, look in the NOTES directories in each category to get some email addresses and websites (if they still exist) as leads, and approach some of those artists. There are more than a few that seem to have miniature collections of fonts attributed entirely to them; it may be a great way to get a good variety of fonts in one package. See the Fedora larabie-fonts rpm as an example. - the Linux Multimedia Sprinters
