11.1.  (Not) Editing Waveforms

Cleaning your source sound is frequently one of the first tasks you'll do, so ideally your sound will be sanitized before ever reaching Qtractor. However, in the event that you have imported audio and started working and then you decide that something needs some detail work, you can export just the clip that requires cleaning from Qtractor, clean it, and then re-import it.
To export a clip of a sound file for cleaning outside of Qtractor:
  1. Right-click on the clip in its track and select Clip > Export from the contextual menu.
  2. Edit the exported clip in a waveform editor such as Audacity and save export your changes.
  3. Import the modified clip back into Qtractor and move it into place over the previous clip.
